Balance and gait is multifaceted, involving several different systems in the body: vision, vestibular (inner ear), strength, neurological feedback, flexibility. These all work in a finely choreographed manner to produce successful, safe mobility. Sometimes, because of disease, accident or aging, one or more of these systems to begins to decline, leading to balance and/or gait problems.
- Careful analysis of these systems
- Design a focused, customized, safe exercise program
- Determine if assistive devices (cane, walker) are necessary
- Implement, monitor and amend the program
